Santee Lakes

Santee Lakes is a favorite destination for friends and family to spend the day in the neighborhood. The park itself has won numerous honors over the years and features seven various playground layouts; Boulder Island is ideal for adventurers, while Sprayground is ideal for cooling down on hot summer days. You can spend your day walking or riding your bike around the lake, boating, fishing, or camping on their expansive grounds. If you like camping but don't want to rough it in the wilderness, stay at one of the park's seven lakeside cabins or one of the three floating cabins for a unique outdoor experience.

Museum of Creation and Earth History

The Creation and Earth History Museum is a museum that depicts the creation of the Earth based on scientific and biblical evidence. The museum is designed to reinforce the biblical story of creation by allowing visitors to experience everything in chronological order. The 10,000-square-foot facility is a true six-day creation, complete with a life-sized tabernacle exhibition, a human anatomy exhibit, and an age of the earth cave. Other features include a Dinosaur Garden, a Dinosaur Play Area that will appeal to your inner paleontologist, and Noah's Ark, which will allow you to delve deeper into the ark and the Genesis Flood.

Santee Boulders

Locals and visitors to Santee have climbed the rocks for decades, making it one of the most popular recreational rock climbing spots in the area. Despite the fact that it is on private property, the owners allow people to go climbing and bouldering there all year. You'll enjoy the thin faces and mantels that make the boulders simple to climb, but you'll also enjoy the tough and steep features that add to the excitement. Santee Boulders is famous with climbers not just because it is one of the best places to perfect your footwork, but also because it is easily accessible; the actual boulder is only a five-minute walk from the parking area.

Santee Historical Society Museum - Edgemoor Farm

Edgemoor Farm was built in 1913 as part of Walter Hamlin Dupee's award-winning dairy farm. Even when it first opened, the location featured a polo pony pasture and was a popular tourist destination. The farm, notably the Santee Barn, was recognized as a historic landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places after years of drifting away from its roots and being used as a geriatric hospital and hospice. The barn is currently the city's oldest structure, housing a museum filled with relics and mementos that depict the tale of the area's past.

BNS Brewing & Distilling Co.

Since its inception in 2012, the BNS Brewing and Distilling Company has been creating award-winning beers. The beers are known for being "clean and classic," and they are a tribute to outstanding American flavors. Some of the beers available in their popular tasting room include the crisp India pale ale Revolver, a deep stout called the Gatling Gun, and a red ale called Ole Prospector, which has earned gold medals at both the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Competition. There's always something fun and interesting going on in the tasting room, such as Taco Tuesdays with an all-you-can-eat taco buffet, quiz night, and band night, when local musicians perform.

Mary's Donuts

Mary Hennesy's background and passion for donuts began even before she launched her own shop in 1984; she worked as a baker and manager at the regionally known Winchell's before purchasing the first donut shop in Santee and renaming it Mary's Donuts. Despite the fact that she is no longer at this historic building, Mary's Donuts remains a community staple. It's where people go for friendly faces and fresh cuisine produced using the same recipes that made it famous decades ago. Aside from warm, tasty donuts, the cafe also serves deli sandwiches crafted with the finest meats and veggies.
